I might be falling in love with David...

...Cronenberg that is...some snippets from an interview with MTV about Cosmopolis winning the Movie Brawl...thanks to those of us here at 12months and our voting fingers ;-) (I guess probably the rest of the fandom too...)

"He's terrific. He deserves the affection that the fans have for him. He's incredibly sweet, he's very funny, he's very bright and he's also very knowledgeable about cinema. Not just movies but the history of cinema. He knows a lot about it. He's just a sweetheart. And he's totally professional. He's always right there. We had a lot of fun shooting [the movie] because, as I say, he has a great sense of humor. We just played a lot. I think that's a really great tone that's set for everybody on the set. The lead actor has a really big influence on the tone of the shoot. If you've got a guy who's very difficult and neurotic or whatever, they can't help but affect everybody's day. But Rob is not like that. He's just a ray of sunshine. In fact, he's in absolutely every scene of the movie, so obviously his temperament would have a huge influence on how the shoot went ... and it was a dream. It was a beautiful shoot."

"Well, and I think that's one of the things that I meant when I said it was interesting. Because that's not the kind of thing you would predict. But it was really terrific, and in that sense, they're right. As I've said many times, if you're a "Twilight" fan, then you might not be interested in "Cosmopolis" because Rob is not Mr. Cullen. But if you're a Rob fan, then you've got to be interested in "Cosmopolis," because you will see him as you have not seen him before, for sure."

Full interview here....me likey...can't wait to see more as this goes...hopefully some stills or something soon? A lot of David's responses sound like things we've all been saying for a while now and so many others don't see or don't want to see - those Twilight haters out there who think that Rob is not really an actor...this might just show some people what he's really all about :)

  1. Someone asked about when we have to wait for this until...but the comment is gone.

In reading the full article DC said he's hoping for a fall release. They don't have US distribution yet but they haven't been looking yet either - they want to have a trailer ready before they do that so they can sell it. He said he wants to "do a couple of film festivals" before a full release...more Cannes Rob?? Please? (Cannes is in May) TIFF?? (which is generally in August/September) I have a passport - I'll go to Canada to see it... :)

  2. Of course Rob is a dream to work with! I would expect nothing less from him.

We knew about his knack for cinema from his own mouth, when he speaks it's like taking a class. I wish he would have taught my cinema class, not because he's great to look at (which is a bonus), but because he knows his stuff without being an ass about it like my prof was.

I don't have a passport or money to go to Canada but if I win the $5000 a month for life lotto I will so be going to Cannes or TIFF! How much $ do you think it would take to get our small group there??? Hmmm things to ponder while I'm wasting money on lotto tickets ;)
